To Esaksoni...

Getting ready to leave for Eskasoni, Nova Scotia on Wednesday. Looking forward to five days of evangelistic services in this Mi'kmaq community. Looking forward to working with Art and Bonnie Sawler, who have been buiding relationships and planting seeds in Eskasoni for four years.
Remembering what a treat it was to have some overlap time with Jack and Peggy Kennedy in Waskaganish just over a week ago. I was encouraged and challenged by Peggy's Thursday evenings and Friday morning messages.
Appreciating that Peggy called on the people to pray for me as I go to Eskasoni. Someone who has been following Jesus more than 30 years laid hands on one of my shoulders, representing the powerful move of God in Cree territory in the past. (The older people remember when Waskaganish didn't want Jesus. They also remember how He broke through, and the difference He made.) Someone who has been following Jesus less than 3 years laid hands on my other shoulder, representing what God is doing in Waskaganish today. As the people gathered around, they prayed that what Waskaganish has experienced would flow to Eskasoni. They prayed that Jesus would break through in Mi'kmaq territory, just as He did in Cree territory. They sent me.
Rejoicing because good things happen when God's people see themselves as senders. Soon Waskaganish will be sending their own people... to nations... with the gospel. I pray that one day Eskasoni will be sending people... to nations... with the gospel.
