Eskasoni

We sowed some good seeds in Eskasoni last week. The prayer team visited homes, distributed the Native Book of Hope, and prayed. The youth team did some great activities to build bridges to girls and to youth. I preached: about what happens when Jesus comes to town (Mark 1:21-34); about a suicidal jailer who's life was turned around when God shook the jail open in the middle of the night and a couple of prisoners intoduced him and his whole family to Jesus (Acts 16:25-34); about a shepherd boy who let God use him to bring down a giant in full battle gear...with a slingshot and a stone...when the whole army was running scared (1 Samuel 17); and about the power of Jesus to save us, heal us, and set us free (Luke 4:16-21). People heard; Jesus worked in lives. By Sunday evening the glory of God was rising up!
We did some harvesting in Eskasoni, too. We were surprised by how many youth came out to the services. Some of them said "yes" to following Jesus. Their world has been too full of addictions, abuse, violence, and suicide. Jesus has a hope and a future for them. A really good one. He's beginning to heal and restore them. He's calling them to "go" with His life and light. And He's even calling some of them to be "giant slayers."
Pray for Art and Bonnie Sawler as they continue to minister in Eskasoni and to lead the Maritime Aboriginal Missions Initiative. They face challenges that are also opportunities.
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes..." (Romans 1:16)
