I'm excited!
I leave for Uganda November 19. That's three weeks from yesterday! I'll be teaching at a two week "School of Evangelism and Church Planting" hosted by Pentecostal Assemblies of God Uganda. PAG Uganda, a partner organization of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, is a growing fellowship of over 4,000 churches. The goal is to produce equipped church planters and evangelists who will multiply committed followers of Jesus Christ and healthy churches within Uganda and beyond. We also want to spark fresh vision and motivation for such ministry. About 70 people are expected to attend, including the district superintendent and key evangelists/church planters from each PAG district. Some from other fellowships will also come. The training, which will be held at the PAG Missions Transforming Centre just outside Kampala, will blend classroom teaching with field experience for maximum impact.
So why am I excited?
- I'll be team teaching with the PAG national leadership: Rev. Simon Peter Emiau Rev. Timothy Kibirige, and Rev. Benjamin Okwir. They bring a tremendous pool of knowledge, experience, and resources.
- The field experience component will have real impact on real people. Individuals will come to know Jesus. Families will be healed and restored. Seeds of hope and change will be planted in communities. That will be multiplied as participants go home and implement what they have learned in the various regions of Uganda.
- I wholeheartedly believe in the vision for missions training being implemented at the PAG Missions Transforming Centre. What a privilege to be a part of it! Next year, 30 and 40 day programs will be offered. Eventually, a 9 month program to equip committed African candidates for global missions will be in place. (Did you know that the five largest churches in Europe are led by Africans?)
You can participate!
Please pray. Updates and prayer requests will be available by email and on my blog: www.joyjohnston.blogspot.com/
Please consider a financial gift. Funds are needed to cover my international travel, food and accommodation in Uganda, and a contribution to the expenses of the training conference. (Income tax receipts will be issued to Canadian donors.)
