Wrapping Up Week Two at Migadde

Good evening from Migadde!  As we come to the end of week two of the "40 Days of Missions" training, we now have 23 students on site - a good mix of Ugandan missionaries, evangelists, and pastors. Peoples' thinking and ministry traditions are being s t r e t c h e d . . . but they are willing to wrestle with the questions and issues.

Last evening, a student asked that we pray for Somalia. Many Ugandan soldiers, including relatives of some of our students, are presently there with the African Union forces. What began as praying for protection for these Ugandan troops turned into a time of crying out to God for the gospel to break through in Somalia, for the nation to experience the true transformation and lasting peace that only Jesus can provide. They then shifted to prayer for the Arab world. Some came away asking God, "What can I do to help reach Somalia? What can I do to help reach the Arab world?"

God is doing such different and unique things in each person's life. One missionary who was ready to quit has been encouraged to continue, and sees fresh possibilities for his difficult place of ministry. Another is realizing that it's time to move on, rather than settling comfortably where he is serving. He sees that the local believers he has raised up are now well able to continue and extend the work without him. So he is asking God to direct him to a new place of ministry where people have not yet been reached with the gospel.

Someone commented to me in an email that we have amazing opportunities and challenges here. That is so true. Pray with us that God will help us to make the most of the opportunities and to overcome the challenges!
